6 p.m. – Customs vs Pocari
Pocari Sweat guns for the Shakey’s V-League Season 12 Reinforced crown against Bureau of Customs today at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
Game 2 of their best-of-three titular showdown is set at 6 p.m. with the Lady Warriors seeking for a sweep after beating the BoC Transformers, 25-22, 25-18, 25-18, in Game 1 last Saturday.
While Pocari surprised itself with a straight-set win against one of the fancied teams in the conference, the Lady Warriors are expecting a tougher match this time.
“Nakita naman natin na kahit lumalamang kami, hindi kami nakakalayo nang todo. Talagang kinapitan kami hanggang huli.
So ine-expect na namin na mas mahirap pa itong next game,” said Pocari skipper Michele Gumabao.
Gumabao said they needed to increase their intensity knowing that Customs would die to bring the series into a rubber match.
The skilled leadership of BoC Transformers’ main player Alyssa Valdez should not also be taken for granted.
“Bubuhatin talaga niya yung team, kahit sinong kakampi niya. Alam naming mag-a-adjust sila sa Game 2, kaya kailangan din naming mag-adjust. Kailangan tulung-tulong pa rin kami inside the court. Control ourselves as much as possible,” added Gumabao, a former La Salle standout.
Pocari is expected to toughen its defense after posting 15 blocks in Game 1, while limiting Valdez and Thai spiker Som Kuthaisong to 10 and eight kills, respectively.
