An anti-crime and corruption group announced that individuals have raised P1-million for any information that would lead to the arrest of Ronnie Dayan, former lover and security aide of beleaguered Senator Leila de Lima.
The announcement came a day after De Lima admitted his relationship with his former driver-bodyguard in a televised interview on GMA-7.
Dayan is being accused of being De Lima’s bagman in her alleged illegal drug deals with high-profile inmates at the National Bilibid Prison was her ex-lover.
The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) and its legal counsel, Ferdinand Topacio maintained that not a single centavo was donated by any politician insisting that the bounty was raised by disgruntled concerned citizens.
In a press conference, the groups showed the reward money before wide-eyed and astonished audience including members of various media outfits.
Dante Jimenez founding chairman of the VACC said the group in charge of receiving tips pertaining to Dayan’s whereabouts while the R1-million reward money remains at the hands of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for safekeeping.
Authorities failed to find Dayan in his residence in Urbiztondo, Pangasinan after President Duterte tagged him as De Lima’s lover and has alleged link to the drug lords detained at the New Bilibid Prison.
The VACC will also place “wanted” posters of Dayan in strategic locations to hasten his apprehension.
Jimenez said that the VACC will also coordinate with the Philippine national Police (PNP) for the establishment of a hotline number for the use of the informants. (CHITO CHAVEZ)
