The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) believes that Ronnie Dayan, the lover and former bodyguard-driver of senator Leila de Lima, is still in the country and could be hiding somewhere in Luzon.
NBI spokesman Ferdinand Lavin they have already received concrete leads and that they already dispatched three teams to locate and arrest Dayan.
“We cannot divulge operational details. We don’t want to jeopardize the informants cooperating with us. But it appears, Dayan is mobile in Luzon,” said Lavin.
The NBI is also coordinating with the office of retired Lt. General Roland Detabali, Sergeant-at-Arms of the House of Representatives on a possible joint operation to pin down Dayan.
On Monday, De Lima admitted in a television interview about his romantic relationship with Dayan.
Meanwhile, Lavin also asked those who are hiding Dayan to cooperate with the NBI.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Wednesday made a pronouncement that several high-ranking government officials are trying to protect Dayan though the justice chief refused to identify the said officials.
