Perpetual Help opens its campaign for a third straight title as it tackles La Salle-Greenhills in today’s start of the juniors division of the 92nd NCAA volleyball tournament at the Filoil-Flying V Center in San Juan City.
The Junior Altas, coached by Sandy Rieta and Jason Sapin, defeated the Emilio Aguinaldo Brigadiers in two games in the finals last year to claim their second straight title and eighth overall.
Another championship this season would clinch the Las Piñas-based spikers their ninth crown overall, the second highest in the league next only to the San Sebastian Staglets’ 15 titles.
Perpetual Help will be brandishing the same line up that reigned supreme a season ago that will be spearheaded by last year’s Finals MVP Jody Margaux Severo, Best Spiker Ryuji Condrad Etorma and Best setter Gabriel EJ Casana.
EAC, which will be headed by reigning MVP Ralph Joshua Pitogo, for its part, will try, likewise, to jumpstart its title aspiration as it squares off with an unpredictable San Beda at 1:30 p.m., which will cap a heavy four-game bill.
Other matches will pit Lyceum against Letran at 9 a.m. and San Sebastian versus Arellano U at 12 noon.
The Perpetual Help-La Salle Greenhills duel is set at 10:30 a.m.
