BB Gandanghari is now officially a woman.
This after the Superior Court of California in the United States approved her petition to change her name, from Rustom Padilla to BB Gandanghari, and gender.
Gandanghari, 49, praised the United States for “providing this basic human right.”
“This is it! And I thought this day would never come. And I thank my God and my Lord for making these things happen,” she said on an Instagram post on Nov. 17.
“Everything makes sense now… and to this great country the United States of America for providing this basic human right, thank you!!!” Gandanghari said.
In August, Gandanghari formally filed a petition before a California court to change his name and gender.
“CHANGE is coming…Big Time!!!” said Gandanghari in her caption.
It would be recalled that Padilla came out of the closet when he joined the celebrity edition of the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother” on ABS-CBN in 2006.
The brother of actor Robin Padilla then decided to carry the name BB Gandanghari.
In July 2014, Gandanghari revealed in an interview with Anthony Taberna on his show “Tapatan ni Tunying” that she is a transgender not gay.
“When I came out, wala naman akong boyfriend. Wala naman akong karelasyon. So parang sabi ko, what makes me gay? Fast forward to three years after, hindi pala ako gay. Transgender pala ako,” Gandanghari said then.
