Newcomer Bureau of Customs and Malacañang go for a sweep of their group elims when they collide with their respective rivals tomorrow in the 5thUNTV Cup at the Pasig Sports Center.
With the return of playing-coach Kenneth Duremdes from the US, the BOC Transformers are tipped to beat the NHA Builders in their 2 p.m. showdown.
Duremdes, who was invited by Sen. Manny Pacquiao to watch his fight in Las Vegas two weeks ago, will once again spearhead the team’s drive for six in their group elims of the tournament organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon.
The Malacañang Kamao, on the other hand, shoot for their fifth straight win in Group A against the MMDA Black Wolves.
Even without the former PBA MVP winner, the Transformers easily beat last year’s runners-up the Philippine National Police Responders, 86-68, thanks to the impressive showing of Berzon Franco who sizzled for 25 points.
In the other Group B elims, Judiciary tries to follow up its 90-77 win over the GSIS Furies when they face the Responders at 5 p.m.
Toting similar 3-1 cards, the Responders-Magis showdown is expected to be as tight as the Kamao-Black Wolves.
Only the top four teams in each group will advance to the second round where their win-loss records will be carried over.
