Jonathan Taconing is making a comeback tonight at the Elorde Sports Center in Sucat, Parañaque after losing a unanimous decision to world champion Ganigan Lopez last July 2, 2016 in Mexico City.
Currently rated no. 7 by the World Boxing Council in the lightflyweight division, Taconing will fight for the vacant WBC International title against Salatiel Amit, a hard hitting fighter from the Omega Boxing Gym in Cebu City.
Promoted by Johnny Elorde in cooperation with the Rotary Club of Manila Premier, this exciting boxing promotion which has been dubbed for years as “Boxing Kontra Droga”, will also feature three 10-round bouts in the supporting mainer.
Taconing must win impressively in this fight for him to be given a change again to fight for the world crown. But Amit is no pushover as he only lost once in a record of 9 wins with 7 KOs, and 2 draws. His trainer, Christopher “Ping Ping” Tepora has studied Taconings movements and the plan is to pressure him so he won’t be able to throw punches which they see as Taconing’s handicap. Amit is excited to land in the world ratings should he beat Taconing.
The supporting mainers will feature Jay Loto versus Powell Balaba, Rene Patillano against JC Francisco and Glenn Medura versus Noel Adelmita in 10-round encounters.
Eight rounders Jeffrey Francisco will battle against Lloyd Jardelisa, Abraham Bullagay against Roy Lagrada and Wilbert Beronio versus Robin Dingcong.
The preliminaries will have Robin Langress vs Jonathan Pedrosa, Diomel Diocos against Jovani Casin in 6 round bouts and Arvin Magramo versus Carlos Hernandez in a 4 round encounter.
