Schools from Cebu and Bacolod arranged a championship showdown in the Visayas Regional Finals of the SBP Passerelle Tournament backed by Milo at the Capiz gym in Roxas City.
University of the Visayas in Cebu and University of St. La Salle in Bacolod scored back-to-back wins to advance in the finals of the Small Basketeers Philippines division.
UV trounced Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion of Roxas, 60-35, and dumped Hua Siong College of Iloilo, 37-27, while USLS cruised to a 55-38 win over Hua Siong and a 68-51 thrashing of Purisima.
In the Passerelle division, pre-tournament favorite Bacolod Tay Tung High School marched into the finals with a 51-43 win over St. Robert’s International Academy of Iloilo, and an 82-61 rout of HERCOR College of Roxas.
Tay Tung set up a title meeting with UV, which survived HERCOR College, 53-52, and St. Robert’s of Iloilo, 55-51.
The Visayas champions will move on to the national finals which will be held in Bacolod on Dec. 3 to 4.
