VIGAN CITY (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the Ilocos has recently provided tranining course for security guards to qualified Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries.
The training was realized through the Pre-Licensing Training Course on Security Guard of the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the DSWD-1.
Marcelo Nicomedes J. Castillo, regional director of DSWD-1, said that a total of 229 Pantawid beneficiaries from the provinces of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur graduated recently from the Employment Facilitation-Skills Project of SLP.
Of the total number, 163 come from Ilocos Norte and 66 from Ilocos Sur.
Before the year ends, the graduates from Ilocos Norte will soon get hired by the VNV Security Agency in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte and by the JTC Mall, Batac City.
Meanwhile, three of the 66 security guards from Ilocos Sur were already employed while the remaining graduates will eventually be employed in coordination of the SLP with the partner-agency Premiere Security Personnel Training Academy, Inc.
Castillo is personally saluting the new graduates of the security guard training course saying that this is a noble profession.
He also assured that the DSWD will continue assisting them in other possible ways.
