The Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) said the P1 million bounty for the arrest of Ronnie Dayan, former driver and ex-lover of Senator Leila de Lima, will be given to his relatives.
Dante Jimenez, founding chairman of the Quezon City-based group, said Dayan’s relatives were the key personalities who gave vital information on his whereabouts that led to his arrest in La Union, Tuesday.
However, Jimenez opposed giving part of the reward money to the police as this would set a bad precedent because the cops were only doing their jobs.
Conflicting reports disclosed that Dayan surrendered to authorities but the police insisted that he was arrested after they chased him.
After being presented to the media at Camp Crame, Dayan admitted receiving money from alleged drug kingpin Kerwin Espinosa for De Lima, a claim the lady senator has repeatedly denied. (Chito A. Chavez)
