DAVAO CITY – A couple is under investigation after their domestic quarrel reportedly led to a fire that razed 45 houses Sunday in Brgy. Sto. Tomas Monteverde.
Initial reports from fire officials show that the fire may have been done deliberately.
Facing arson charges are Terries Sarway Bandillan, 21, a tricycle driver, and Jean Martin Tay, 24, a sales lady, both residents of Purok 7, Tomas Monteverde.
The two were heard arguing before the fire.
According to some residents, the fire may have been started by an arguing couple who threatened to burn down their house during one loud argument.
The couple were reportedly new to the area.
Their neighbors told officials that the man reportedly said he poured gas over the clothes of his wife, with the fire spreading fast as the highly dense area has light materials.
The City Government is currenty sheltering the affected residents at the nearby gym.
No one was hurt while the BFP is still assessing the damage in the incident. (YAS D. OCAMPO)
