Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Ronald Dela Rosa has revealed that beleaguered regional head Supt. Marvin Marcos was already relieved from his post prior to the controversial raid on the prison cell of the late Albuera Mayor Rolando Espinosa.
According to Espinosa, an official higher than him made a call and asked him to reinstate Marcos before the November 5 raid inside the Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail in Baybay City that led to the death of Espinosa.
“Someone called me. I will not say who but someone called me. I am not lying but I will not tell who called me,” dela Rosa admitted in an interview with Karen Davila in her program Headstart over ABS-CBN News Channel. “When I say that it is someone higher than me, who would that be than those who are in the higher-ups.”
While Dela Rosa refused to reveal the name of the official, he would however disclose his or her identity in an executive session.
Dela Rosa would not discuss the reason of his order to relieve but he said he issued the order before the death of Mayor Espinosa on November 5 at the Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail in Baybay City.
Dela Rosa however sounded firm in stating that he did not regret his decision to follow the order of the unnamed official and reinstate Marcos. (AARON RECUENCO)
