DAVAO CITY – Agriculture Secretary Manny Piñol said that they will launch the National Color-Coded Agriculture Guide-Map (NACCAG) that will assist farmers what crops are suitable for planning in their locations.
In a statement, Piñol said the NACCAG was completed a month ahead of six-month deadline set by President Rodrigo R. Duterte.
“The NACCAG, as the program will later be called for brevity, will now serve as the guide for Filipino farmers on what type of soil they have in their farms, what kind of crops are ideal, what soil nutrients does their farms need and what are the risks and hazards that they must be prepared for,” he said.
He said that the NACCAG website will be made accessible after its launching this month. He said the Department Agriculture will distribute smartphones and computers to the farmers and fishermen’s groups by next year, so that they can access the website and obtain data easily.
Seminars and workshops will be conducted at the local level to educate the ordinary farmers and fishermen on using the website.
