The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), which holds offices inside the 10- hectare Rizal Memorial Sports Complex (RMSC) in Malate, Manila, hasn’t been formally informed about the planned takeover of tycoon Enrique Razon, who intends to turn the 82-year-old edifice into a commercial area.
Informed about a statement released by Razon on his bid to purchase the RMSC, PSC chairman William ‘Butch’ Ramirez said Malacanang has yet to advise him to vacate and set up shop elsewhere.
“I have not received any communication from the Executive Secretary (Leoncio Evasco) regarding this issue,” said Ramirez yesterday afternoon.
Unless President Rodrigo Duterte issues an order for him to relocate, Ramirez said that the PSC will continue to hold offices and perform its duties to the athletes and coaches at the RMSC.
“Habang wala pang approval ang Presidente and my signature to vacate, the place (PSC) will stay in Rizal,” said Ramirez.
Aside from the Razon Group, other interested parties in acquiring the RMSC include mall magnate Henry Sy, Ayala Land and Lucio Tan.
