Christmas is the time of the season when people get to be conscious with helping and giving to the people who are less fortunate.
This is good since we think less of ourselves and think more about others.
But before we talk more about generosity, let us check our hearts first. What are our motives for being generous? Is it to be noticed? Be recognized? Be known for it? How can you know if you are a truly GENEROUS person?
There are some ways to determine if you truly are a generous person:
YOU HELP AND GIVE TO PEOPLE YOU DO NOT KNOW
When you see a child selling peanuts or sampaguita in the streets, you find yourself buying, not only because you want to, but because you want to help him or her. You want to help the child sell all of his or her products so that the child can go home right away.
And for those people asking for alms in the streets, instead of giving them money, you usually buy them food to make sure that they are able to eat and not just use the money for other things.
Aside from that:
YOU HELP AND GIVE TO PEOPLE WHO CANNOT PAY YOU IN RETURN
Even if you know that this person is will not be able to pay you back, you’re still willing to give him or her money.
And even if this person is only asking for a loan, you’re willing to give the money as a gift.
When this person pays you back, you refuse to accept his or her payment, because in your heart, right from the start, you knew that it was a form of help. You’re not really expecting anything in return because you are more concerned with this person’s needs rather than your own.
Another sign that you are a generous person is:
YOU HELP AND GIVE TO PEOPLE WHO ARE SERVING GOD
