President Duterte is willing to allow gaming tycoon Jack Lam to resume his business in the country but imposed some conditions, including payment of right taxes and apology for bribery attempt.
The President said Lam has sent surrender feelers to authorities and expressed readiness to pay taxes to the government.
“Okay lang sa akin because he has offered to come back, resume his business, pay his taxes, liability whatever it is,” Duterte said in a media interview after the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bicol International Airport in Albay yesterday.
“Then sabi ko on a condition that he lets go of the original contract that gave him to enjoy only one percent. Sabi ko, pareho kayo lahat. Just pay the taxes, do not bribe anybody,” he added.
The President had ordered the arrest of Lam, who has online casino operations at the Clark economic zone, for economic sabotage and bribery charges. Lam’s operations were also closed down. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
