Nine Korean tourists were rescued after being involved in separate marine incidents this week in Ilocos Sur and Boracay.
According to officials of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), four of the Koreans were saved from a sunken black leisure yacht named Lady Allia II which ran aground after entering a rocky portion of Cabugao, Ilocos Sur. Thursday.
The survivors were identified as Capt. Lee Taejoo, Lee Hanro, Moon Seung Hyon, and Kim Nogwan whose craft were on its way to Subic in Zambales.
Coast Guard District North Western Luzon (CGDNWLZN) and the Coast Guard Station (CGS) of the area immediately dispatched its rescue team when they got information about the yacht which they eventually spotted off the shoreline of Salomangue Island.
Meanwhile, five Korean tourist and two boat crew members were also rescued after their boat capsized during their island hopping in Boracay.
Investigation showed that the boat of Park Jun Suck, Kim Ji Youn, Park Chae Yeon, Park Eun and Yim Sieong Jin departed Station 3 in Boracay for an island sojourn when it capsized between the vicinity Crystal Cove and Magic Islands due to strong winds and big waves.
PCG said a staff of Crystal Cove saw the capsized boat and reported the incident to Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Boracay.
The PCG rescue team immediately proceeded to the area and transported them to Crystal Cove Island. The survivors were all in good condition as reported by the PCG. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
