Starting today, provincial buses are banned from plying a portion of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (Edsa) in Quezon City for four hours – from 6 am to 10 am, said the Inter-Agency Council on Traffic (I-ACT).
Manny Gonzales, I-ACT deputy chief traffic said provincial buses, particularly those going to their terminals, cannot ply the route from Edsa-Timog Avenue up to Edsa-P. Tuazon Blvd., Quezon City southbound from Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Instead, these passenger buses have to take secondary streets leading to back portion of their terminals to load and unload their passengers.
Violators will be slapped with a Uniform Ordinance Violation Receipt for obstruction and disregarding traffic sign with corresponding penalty or fine.
Tim Orbos, i-ACT official and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman, said provincial buses going out of their terminals cannot use any part of Edsa to turn or maneuver or they will be apprehended for violating the “nose in, nose out” policy.
“In a matter of minutes when a provincial bus maneuvers on Edsa, a traffic snarl is created,” said Orbos.
