Davis Cupper Francis Casey Alcantara lost his chance at nailing his first International Tennis Federation singles title this season after yielding into the quarterfinals of the Indonesia F6 Futures tournament yesterday in Jakarta.
The unseeded Alcantara fought back strongly in the opening set, but failed to get the momentum against sixth seed Kento Takeuchi to lose 6-4, 6-2.
The left-handed Takeuchi, ranked No. 28 in the Association of Tennis Professionals, needed 56 minutes in beating the 24-year-old Cagayan de Oro bet while relying on five break points to dominate the match.
The Japanese’s second serve proved also too much for Alcantara as Takeuchi registered seven points out of his 14 second serves.
