CEBU CITY – Mayor Tomas Osmeña here said street parties and drinking along the parade route will be banned during the Sinulog Mardi Gras 2017 on January 15 next year.
Osmeña said he wants to avoid an where a stampede reportedly happened during last year’s festival.
“Technically, I don’t mind people drinking in the streets. But if there’s so many of them, it gets out of control man gud, and it creates public disturbance. It creates a risk situation,” said Osmeña.
Osmeña adds they will be shortening the route of the Sinulog Grand Parade as they intend to end the procession by 4:30 p.m. and that no fireworks display will happen. (Mars W. Mosqueda, Jr.)
