Police are hunting down a jobless man who stabbed his 20-year-old live-in partner dead in Quezon City on Christmas Eve.
Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU) reported that the victim, Mary Jane Hamtig, a resident of Gintong Pangarap Compound, Brgy. Tandang Sora, Quezon City, died from multiple stab wounds in the body while undergoing treatment at New Era Hospital.
The suspect, Michael Mendoza, remains at large.
Probers learned that the victim and the suspect had been lovers since 2015.
Witness Jasper James Eugenio told police that he was driving his motorcycle when he passed by an alley on Eugenio Compound, Barangay Culiat, Quezon City, and saw the couple having a conversation.
Moments later, for still unknown reason, the suspect stabbed the victim several times.
Eugenio and a certain “Jun” chased Mendoza but the suspect made good of his escape.
The victim was brought to the hospital but succumbed to her wounds at about 9:15 p.m.
Police said the incident is still under investigation. (Francis T. Wakefield)
