Saying he wanted to give something back to an industry that’s been good to him, a noted horse owner has helped bankroll a big weekday racing festival set this Wednesday at the MetroTurf in Malvar, Batangas.
Lawyer Narciso O. Morales said the event will be called DLTB Racing Festival, a nine-race program he’s sponsoring as his Christmas gift to fans who have continued to support his long line of horses in particular and the industry in general.
“This is our way of saying thank you to all the racing fans. Go to the races and let’s have fun,” said Morales.
Two rich, big races – the P500,000 Yutong Bus stakes event and the P300,000 Biffany and Beryl Co.-Tony Tan stakes run – will be the highlights of the program during which raffle of prizes and fireworks will also be made in an evening of fun.
According to Morales, the two stakes races are expected to draw the participation of some of the country’s top runners while regular races will have guaranteed prize of P175,000.
Morales’ stable is presently on cloud nine after it has already posted a mind-boggling total of 220 wins in a memorable season that’s about to end, a number which will go down in local racing’s history as the highest ever.
It will mark the third straight year that Morales, owner of the huge DLTB bus company, will end up as the winningest horse owner with most of his victories coming in the regular races.
“We offer this racing festival as our way of paying back the Bayang Karerista which has been with us all the way.
Again, I’m inviting the fans to come and enjoy the races this Wednesday,” Morales said.
Morales is also noted for owning horses with fancy names like Kukurukuku Paloma, Dikoridik Koridak, Honeywheresmypants, and Hugmetightbaby.
