The Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines (ABAP) held its annual Strategic Planning Session at Iggy’s Inn in Baguio City over the weekend.
Present in the activity facilitated by sports scientists Eski Ripoll and Marcus Manalo (ABAP sports psychologist) were all the national coaches led by head coach Pat Gaspi, strength and conditioning coach Mark Limbaga, ABAP Nutritionist Arabella Ripoll, AIBA Tournament Supervisor Karina Picson, ABAP Executive Director Ed Picson and ABAP Vice-President and former Baguio City Mayor Peter Rey Bautista.
The two day workshop tackled the various concerns in the national boxing team as well as refreshers on the responsibilities and roles of everyone in the organization.
The group also tackled the process of choosing boxers for the major tournaments and the grassroots development programs.
On Sunday, PSC Commissioner and basketball legend Ramon Fernandez dropped by to talk with the group and inspect the national training center facilities in Teachers Camp.
Fernandez pledged to work with ABAP to assist boxing in achieving their goals.
