BAGUIO CITY – Miss Universe beauties will be treated to a Panagbenga-type atmosphere when this city opens its doors to the pageant’s contestants together with reigning queen Pia Wurtzbach on Wednesday.
Mayor Mauricio Domogan has issued an administrative order suspending classes in all levels that day as the contestants will take part in a parade around the city.
“All the floats have different designs which are appropriate for the three major islands of the country which are made of fresh locally produced flowers. It will be an early Panagbenga treat for the beauties as there will also be street dancers to add to the festivity,” Shauna Curran, event organizer at the Baguio Country Club (BCC) said.
Four flower floats made showing the islands of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will be boarded by the candidates with the BCC float carrying Wurtzbach.
“I’m calling on our local residents, let us come together and enjoy this historic moment in our city and show to them our support and hospitality,” said Domogan.
Among the activities that the world beauties will partake are tree planting and strawberry-picking while an appearance in the Baguio Culture and Arts Exhibit showcasing solar painter Jordan mang-osan’s work is also part of the schedule. (Zaldy Comanda)
