President Duterte has called North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un crazy and unpredictable, saying his death would be good for everyone.
The President said the North Korean leader, not Russian President Vladimir Putin, was the “wild card” amid the nuclear and missile development by Pyongyang.
“Itong si Kim Jong-un, itong buang nasa North Korea. He is the wild card there, not Russia,” he said during a business forum in Davao City last Saturday night.
“Putin is just an ultra, ultra si Putin eh, ultra. But ang gago diyan itong sa North Korea lang. Kung mamatay ‘yang buang na ‘yan, okay na tayo. The Philippines would be okay,” he added, drawing laughter from the audience.
He observed that the Russian leader has actually been “very conciliatory” while US President-elect Donald Trump is “almost also” after ignoring the alleged Russian hacking incidents.
The President warned anew against initiating a third world war, that will only spell the end of the world. “If we start a war, a Third World War that will be the end of the world kapag binitawan lahat ‘yang nuclear,” he said.
Meanwhile, Duterte is willing to meet Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairperson Jose Maria Sison in a neutral third country to advance the government’s peace initiatives.
The President said he would wait for the results of the peace talks between the government and the communist rebel group in Rome, Italy before finalizing a meeting with Sison.
“Dureza and Bebot Bello are there, nasa Rome sila ngayon. I don’t know why they transferred venue. Siguro magpalapit doon sa Pope para magrasyahan,” Duterte said in a forum with businessmen in Davao City, referring to Presidential
adviser on the peace process Jesus Dureza and Labor Secretary and chief government negotiator Silvestre Bello III.
“But I said, sige, I will just wait for a while. And when you’re ready, it’s either I will go to somewhere in a Third World country – not really a Third World country in terms of finances but a third country where I can talk to Sison,” he said. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
