TRI-media Cory Quirino has resigned as Philippine licensee holder of the Miss World Philippines pageant for both personal and business reasons.
Arnold Vegafria, Quirino’s former business partner, was awarded the local franchise of the Miss World Philippines contest. Quirino held the position from 2011-2016.
Vegafria is also a talent manager of the country’s popular celebrities such as Kuh Ledesma, Billy Crawford, John Prats, Camille Prats, Carla Abellana, Enzo Pineda, Nikki Gil, Iya Villania, among others.
Quirino was responsible for bringing home the first Miss World crown for the Philippines won by actress Megan Lynne Young, which finally ended after 63 years.
“I treasured my journey with Miss World Philippines. My singular pursuit was to win the elusive blue crown of Miss World in order to make millions of pageant fans happy. And it was done,” she said.
Other major accomplishments included: 2011 – Gwendolyn Ruais, 1st runner-up; 2012 – Queenirich Rehmann, Top 8; 2014 – Valerie Weigmann, Top 25; 2015 – Hillarie Parungao, Top 10; and 2016 – Catriona Gray, 4th runner up in Top 5.
Quirino also said that she intends to focus on major projects held in abeyance when she joined the beauty pageant industry.
She said that she will resume the pursuit of her biggest passion – that of promoting health and wellness on a national scale through her various media platforms.
“Time to focus on my national wellness advocacy to make our fellow countrymen return to natural health and healing.
It is time to move on,” Quirino said.
As a strong social advocate for corporate social responsibility, her advocacies will be the object of her focus:
civic leadership in Rotary International District 3830, assisting Red Cross Muntinlupa as director, indigent patient care through Philippine General Hospital Medical Foundation, uplifting the lives of streetchildren with Tuloy Foundation and justice for female victims of violence under Violence Against Crime and Corruption as its Vice-President.
On the business front, plans are underway for the global launch of her own brand of all Filipino wellness and beauty products.
