MISS British Virgin Islands Erika Creque has mistaken former Governor Chavit Singson for President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Was an honor meeting the President of the Philippines Mr Rodrigo Duterte! One love from the British Virgin Islands!” said Creque in the caption of her picture with Singson posted on Instagram.
Netizens pointed out to Creque that the man in the photo was Singson and not Duterte.
Creque, 22, later corrected the caption on IG.
“Was an honor meeting ex Govenor Mr Chavit Singson. He was the Governor of the province of Ilocos Sur, Philippines and the Deputy National Security Adviser for the Philippine government (2008). One love from the British Virgin Islands,” she said.
On Jan. 9, Creque was asked if she has met Duterte. The beauty queen said: “No! I haven’t met your President.”
Creque takes part in various non-profit organizations such as Association of Reef Keepers, Caribbean Youth Environmental Network, Green VI and Greencrete VI. She enjoyed helping people so much that she decided she wanted to be a firefighter.
