A female member of the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) was strangled to death by her live-in-partner following their quarrel inside their house in Caloocan City last Monday.
Police said the victim, Ely Ann Insigne, 28, was already dead when found by neighbors inside her apartment in Barangay 36, Caloocan, at about 7:30 a.m..
Her live-in partner identified as Dexter Tulaylay, 27, was arrested in a follow-up operation and admitted during police interrogation that he was the one who killed the victim.
Neighbors Michel Mañaol and Catherine Borillo said they immediately called the police after they found Insigne lying lifeless on the floor.
Tulaylay told probers that he and Insigne had a fight earlier that day. He added that he was under the influence of illegal drugs when he strangled his partner with bare hands.
Probers said they found hand marks around the neck of the victim.
Police said they recovered a plastic sachet containing shabu from the pocket of Tulaylay, who is now detained at Caloocan City Police headquarters. (Jel Santos)
