Chris Lutz doesn’t hold a grudge against San Miguel Beer even after the squad placed him on the unrestricted free agent list that led to him getting picked up by the Meralco Bolts a couple of days ago.
Marvin Espiritu, Lutz’s agent, yesterday bared that the shooter is even thankful to the SMB franchise where he played five seasons before injuries forced him to take a breather last season.
“No issues on that, no hard feelings on Chris. He is a professional and he understands when San Miguel put him on the unrestricted free agent list. He knows it’s business,” said Espiritu.
Bothered by a nagging hip injury last season, Lutz was initially placed on the reserved list as he took time to rest.
After going in and out of the lineup, he finally decided to go to the US to seek treatment, and there – after consulting with sports doctors in Boston – Lutz found out he has problems on his left ankle.
“The injury is called ankle instability – similar to what Stephen Curry had in the past,” said Espiritu.
Last season, Lutz averaged career lows of 3.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists because of the decreased in minutes played under coach Leo Austria and injuries, which led to his struggles.
