HAPPY AND PROUD – “The other stars.”
That’s how Baby R. Nebrida called them at the presscon-preview of Gold Barn International’s “Across the Crescent Moon.”
They play support to Matteo Guidicelli, Alex Godinez, Christopher de Leon, Gabby Concepcion, Sandy Andolong, and Dina Bonnevie in the action-drama. Excellent actors all.
But they also shine in roles assigned to them.
Baby, writer-director-producer of “Across the Crescent Moon,” is very happy and proud of their performances.
•
ROLL OF – The roll of honor in a manner of speaking, is composed of:
Joem Bascon – the sparring partner of Matteo in fighting human smuggling syndicate and saving its hostages. But then Joem is recognized as a fine actor, especially in indies. He and Matteo play SAF soldiers.
Incidentally, the opening playdate of “Across the Crescent Moon” coincides with the second year of the Mamasapano massacre, Jan. 25.
Jerico Estregan – he plays the Malaysian leader of the syndicate, an out-and-out villain. The son of former Laguna Gov. ER Ejercito Estregan, Jerico is a martial arts enthusiast. He’s taking master’s in business at La Salle.
Ivan Carapiet – he looks like a foreigner (German blood, father side), but Ivan says he’s “Pinoy na Pinoy,” born in the Philippines and speaks Tagalog well. He’s a Manahan on the mother side.
Ivan’s role is short but powerful. He’s a friend from way back of Matteo.
Jerene Tan – she’s first-timer on screen, be it big or small. But Baby was impressed enough to give her pivotal role of Alex’s younger sister. She auditioned for the part, happy-go-lucky teener kidnapped by bandits along with her friends while vacationing on an island resort.
Ku Aquino – is Gen. Ronald “Bato” de la Rosa, even shaving his hair to lend authenticity for the role. Ku is often seen onscreen, delivering with realism whatever part is given him.
So there. The so-called “other stars” of “Across the Crescent Moon.”
