AFFIRM yourself – the very first of the 26 tips in my book, “Hope Boosters for Fired up Souls”. Why? It’s simply because we can never be inspired if we do not see and acknowledge our self-worth, our blessings, and our capabilities.
An affirmation is a statement, assurance, or declaration that makes a person energetic and inspired. “I am unique”.
“I am special.” “As long as I think and act with pure motivation and according to God’s will, the universe will move to provide the things I need. I will succeed” (p. 20).
“Healing is taking place”. “I am favored”.
“My time will come”. “Good things come to those who wait”.
From bank slogans (modified): “Good fortune comes my way”. “I’m in good hands”.
Reading these affirmations makes you declare them, right? The positive expectations give you positive energy. This energy flows and perks you up! Affirmations help people attract the things that they focus on. These are powerful in helping propel them into action. It’s one thing to declare something. It’s another thing to act on it.
“Self-affirmation has been shown to have powerful effects – research suggests that it can minimize the anxiety, stress, and defensiveness associated with threats to our sense of self while keeping us open to the idea that there is room for improvement” (psychologicalscience.org).
Make it a habit to affirm yourself and accept other people’s sincere words when they affirm or encourage you. You will need a good stock to counter the effects of inevitable failures, criticisms, and obstacles. Even the most optimistic and persevering people are not immune to these things, so buckle up!
“I am blessed”. “I am growing”. “I am free”!
