The Philippine National Police is investigating the alleged involvement of “Jerry Boy,” said to be an agent of the National Bureau of Investigation, in the kidnapping and killing of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo.
Senior Supt. Glenn Dumlao, director of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group, said they are verifying if Jerry Boy is indeed connected with the NBI.
“This Jerry Boy has been showing his NBI badge,” said Dumlao, quoting the testimony of SPO4 Roy Villegas, one of the accused in the killing of Jee Ick Joo.
Dumlao said he was not surprised why the main suspect in the killing, SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel, yielded to the NBI instead of following the protocol of subjecting himself to restrictive custody as ordered by PNP chief Director General Ronald M. dela Rosa. “Marami siyang (Sta. Isabel) kasangga dun,” said Dumlao.
The incident has earned the outrage of Malacañang and assured the public that there will be no cover-up on the investigation of the case.
“We assure everyone that there will be no whitewash or cover-up. We will not tolerate corrupt, abusive, errant policemen who betray the organization and the men and women in uniform who continue their faithful, dedicated, and loyal service to the country,” presidential spokesman Ernesto Abella said.
