There is no typhoon or low pressure area in the Philippines but light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will prevail because of two weather systems over the country.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said in its early morning forecast yesterday that the tail-end of a cold front is still affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon while the northeast monsoon or “amihan” remains over Northern and Central Luzon.
Residents in Metro Manila will experience scattered rain showers under predominantly cloudy skies. The same weather outlook is expected over Bicol and Davao as well as Aurora, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, and Samar.
Elsewhere in Luzon and the rest of the country, there will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. State weather forecaster Shelly Ignacio noted that a gale warning remains hoisted over numerous seaboards in Luzon and Visayas due to strong winds linked to amihan.
Fishermen on the coasts of Batanes, Calayan, Babuyan, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Isabela, La Union, Pangasinan, and Aurora using small boats were advised not to venture out to sea for the meantime while those aboard ships were alerted against big waves.
PAGASA issued similar warning to those navigating the seas of Camarines provinces, eastern coasts of Albay, Sorsogon, and Quezon, including Polilio Island, southern coast of Mindoro provinces, northern coast of Palawan, Samar, and Leyte. (Aytch dela Cruz)
