CAMP JULIAN OLIVAS, Pampanga – Former first son and Pampanga Rep. Mikey Arroyo is reportedly in a stable condition at a hospital in Quezon City, but his driver may be slapped with homicide charges for the death of a policeman during a vehicular accident Monday afternoon in Bacolor town here.
Central Luzon police director Chief Supt. Aaron N Aquino said the eldest son of former president and Rep. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo was declared out of danger by doctors at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.
Aquino, however, said that Arroyo’s driver John Frederick Macaraig may be charged with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide. He added that an investigation is being conducted to determine who should be liable in the accident which happened around 3:30 PM of January 23 along Maliwalu village, on the eastern part of the megadike.
Arroyo suffered a gash after his vehicle, a Hilux sports utility, driven by Macaraig was rammed by a Honda Civic with plate No. WEP604 driven by P03 Alexander Villamin, a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned at Police Regional Public Safety Battalion in Central Luzon .
Villamin was killed on the spot while Arroyo and another passenger identified as Edward Mendoza Montevergin, were initially brought to Mother Teresa Calcutta hospital in the City of San Fernando for treatment before they were moved to St. Luke’s. (Franco Regala)
