BIG, BOLDER 2017 FOR GMA: 2016 saw a rough and tough start for GMA producers, stated entertainment head Lilybeth G. Rasonable.
But, the network quickly got its bearings back midstream and closed the year as the Number 1 network, she added.
Among GMA’s most successful programs launched in 2016 are the reboot of “Encantadia” and “Alyas Robin Hood.”
In a media huddle with entertainment editors recently, network announced a full line-up of shows to watch out for in 2017.
Asked which between AGB Nielsen (GMA) and Kantar Media (ABS-CBN) is the more reliable ratings provider, Rasonable stated that more industry practitioners, especially advertisers, subscribe to Nielsen. The issue was raised by media in the light of claims by both networks that each of them is actually No. 1.
The contrary claims have confused the public in more ways than one.

MORE REVELATIONS FROM GMA: Marian Rivera will make her TV comeback on the second quarter of 2017. A new soap series is being prepared for her.
On the departure of singers Ogie Alcasid, Jaya, and Jonalyn Viray (now simply known as Jona): Network respects their right to pursue their careers elsewhere. But we will continue to provide avenues for our other singers to shine.
New show, “Full House Tonight” hosted by Regine Velasquez is a combination game show and musical show.
“Mulawin vs. Ravena” will be GMA’s biggest, most expensive production this year. The revived production will be topbilled by Dennis Trillo and will also star Regine in her first fantaserye.
“Celebrity Bluff,” still hosted by Eugene Domingo will now be seen daily, and not just on weekends. Edu Manzano replaces Jose Manalo as the Master Bluffer.
“Impostora,” which starred Jennylyn Mercado in the original series, is also being revived. Its lead star has yet to be announced.

NEW SHOWS ON GMA IN 2017: GMA Network soars higher in 2017 as it delivers a new roster of trendsetting programs meant to captivate the hearts of Kapuso viewers.
Produced by the GMA Drama Group, first on the list is the original primetime soap “Meant to Be.” This romantic-comedy series revolves around Billie, portrayed by Barbie Forteza, a struggling millennial who meets four guys with different nationalities: Ken Chan as the Chinese-Pinoy Yuan, Jak Roberto as the Pinoy Macoy, Ivan Dorschner as the Fil-British Ethan, Addy Raj as the Indian Jai.
Joining them in “Meant to Be” are Manilyn Reynes, Sheryl Cruz, Tina Paner, Keempee de Leon, Sef Cadayona, Mika dela Cruz, Stephanie Sol, Zymic Jaranilla, and Ms. Gloria Romero.

For its Valentine offering, GMA to light the much awaited soap “Destined to Be Yours” starring the phenomenal love team – Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza. In the story, Alden plays Benjie, a hardworking architect who wants to acquire a piece of land owned by the family of Sinag played by Maine.
Completing the powerhouse cast are Lotlot de Leon, Gardo Versoza, Dominic Roco, Sheena Halili, Ina Feleo, Juancho Trivino, RJ Padilla, Koreen Medina, Boots Anson-Roa, and Janice de Belen.
Soon to soar is much-awaited Pinoy remake of hit Koreanovela “My Love from the Star.” Jennylyn Mercado reprises the popular character of Steffi, a sought-after actress.
For the character of Matteo, the intelligent yet cold extra-terrestrial being, GMA Network introduces new heartthrob Gil Cuerva.
