ROME, Italy – The Philippine government is willing to request the United States to take National Democratic Front chief political consultant Jose Maria Sison off its terrorist watch list to enable the 77-year-old founding chairman of the Communist Party of the Philippines to meet President Duterte.
Government of the Republic of the Philippines peace panel chairman Silvestre Bello III bared that the commitment to work for the delisting of Sison from the US terror watch list will be included in a joint statement that the government and NDF will sign Wednesday afternoon at the close of the third round of their peace talks at the Holiday Inn-Parco de Medici here.
Also expected to be signed Wednesday morning will be the ground rules that will govern the implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on Socio-Economic Reforms which is said to be the “heart and soul” of the peace negotiations. (Rocky Nazareno)
