An alleged drug dependent was killed in a firefight with policemen after he shot his common-law wife dead at the peak of their quarrel in Pasay City Wednesday night.
Police said the suspect, Walid Marohomsar, died in the shootout after killing his live-in partner Leonora Repeulo inside their house on Duhat Street, Barangay 145, Zone 16, Pasay.
Citing initial investigation, Senior Supt. Lawrence Coop, Pasay City police chief, said Marohomsar and Repeulo were heard by neighbors quarreling past 11 p.m. inside their house.
Police reported that a lady neighbor was about to check on the arguing couple when she heard three successive gunshots inside their three-storey house.
The neighbor immediately reported the incident to barangay officials who immediately responded and found Repeulo lying bloodied in front of the couple’s room on the second floor of the house.
Sonny Sumayo, former official of Barangay 145, called police assistance at the suspect locked himself inside the comfort room on the third floor.
Responding Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) members tried to negotiate with Marohomsar but to no avail.
As SWAT men were breaking the door of the comfort room at about 1 a.m., Morohomsar fired shots at the lawmen who retaliated, killing him.
Investigators believed that the partners were quarreling about about Marohomsar’s drug addiction.
Police learned that Marohomsar’s death came a month after he returned home. He was once confined in the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City.
Supt. Jenny Tecson, Southern Police District (SPD) spokesperson, said Marohamsar was listed in the police drug watchlist being a drug dependent. (Martin A. Sadongdong, Jean Fernando)
