London Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga has decided to sever ties with luxury car distributor Jason Soong owing to major differences in management style.
Barriga, 23, turned professional last year and has racked up three wins in as many outings.
But the former national standout is disheartened over the alleged broken promises of Soong, who had assured the Davao del Norte puncher of his 100 percent support.
“He promised to promote me but instead my fights were in the undercards of other promotions,” said Barriga, the country’s lone qualifier in boxing four years ago in London.
Barriga has actually communicated with Soong regarding the planned split but a decision has to wait until the arrival from Macau of his trainer Joven Jimenez.
“I don’t think we can agree on how he plans to chart my career,” said Barriga.
Soong, whose family is the country’s authorized dealer of Jaguar, had only been to just one of Barriga’s fights.
“The only time he was around was when I made my pro debut last July in Taguig,” said Barriga.
