Administrator Rowen Aguirre is seemingly at a loss as to how to manage this island’s garbage issue despite their efforts to inform tourists as well as locals about the problem.
“No matter how strong our campaign is, tourists are still improperly throwing garbage,” said Aguirre.
He said garbage woes are one of the top problems faced by the administration of Mayor Ciceron Cawaling of Malay town.
Recently, parents and teachers have complained that foul odor that seeps through Manoc Manoc Elementary School. The smell from the nearby dumpsite has disrupted classes.
Aguirre said the Malay local government has to swiftly acquire more deodorizers and curb the foul emission.
Aguirre a more efficient and effective system to manage garbage generated by Boracay tourists is a must.
