Tropical depression “Bising” continues to move away from the country but will still bring light to moderate rains over the Bicol region and eastern portions of Visayas and Mindanao.
As of 10 a.m. yesterday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration located Bising at 400 kilometers east of Surigao City in Surigao del Norte with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 55 kph. Bising shifted direction from northwest to north-northwest at 11 kph.
Should it maintain its current speed and track, the tropical cyclone will be outside the country’s area of responsibility Wednesday.
PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms could persist over Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol region, and Quezon today.
Cloudy skies with light rains are expected over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Central Luzon due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan.” Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
PAGASA warned fisherfolk on the eastern coastlines of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao of rough to very rough seas due to the surge of northeast monsoon and the tropical depression.
“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon, Visayas, and over the eastern section of Mindanao. The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough,” PAGASA said. “Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming fom the northeast with slight to moderate seas,” it added. (Ellalyn V.
