Far Eastern University (FEU) bounced back from an opening-day loss as it smashed Adamson, 25-12, 25-19, 25-16, yesterday in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Tamaraws attacked the net at all angles with Bernadeth Pons leading the charge and finishing with 14 kills for 15 points.
Skipper Remy Palma also took defensive charge for FEU by swatting away four blocks and posting 13 points.
The win evened FEU’s win-loss record at 1-1 after yielding to La Salle in straight sets four days back.
None from Adamson scored in double figures with Bernadette Flora and Jessica Galanza managing only nine and eight points, respectively.
The Lady Falcons had never won a set so far after also losing in straight sets to the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons last week. They remain at the cellar with a 0-2 hole.
In the men’s side, defending champion Ateneo reasserts its mastery over last year’s runner-up National University with a 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16 win for its second straight victory in as many games.
Reigning Most Valuable Player Marck Espejo fired 17 kills to finish with 18 points for the Eagles, who fought the Bulldogs’ persistent attacks.
