(Pasig City Sports Center)
3 p.m. – Customs vs Malacañang
5 p.m. – Judiciary vs PNP
Newcomer Bureau of Customs and Judiciary hope to seal a title duel in the 5th UNTV Cup as they go up against their respective semis rivals tomorrow at the Pasig City Sports Center.
The BOC Transformers collide with the No. 4 Malacanang Kamao at 3 p.m. with the former needing only a win in their best-of-three series to advance to the finals – also a best-of-three affair.
Also getting that same privilege are the Judiciary Magis who will challenge the Philippine National Police Responders at 5 p.m. in a series expected to entertain another good crowd in the event organized by UNTV president and CEO Daniel Razon.
Customs and Judiciary secured twice-to-beat bonuses by finishing the double round elims 1-2.
Along with PNP, Customs and Judiciary registered similar 8-3 cards but it was the Transformers who claimed the top seeding due to the winner over the other rule.
The chosen charity institution of the champion team in the annual event for public servants gets P4 million.
Expected to lead Customs are former PBA MVP Kenneth Duremdes, ex-Ginebra star Marlou Aquino and a couple of former UAAP veterans who have been instrumental in the team’s big wins over fancied teams.
“Malacanang is a tough team so we need to defend well against their outside shooters,” said Duremdes referring to Eric dela Cuesta and Christian Luanzon.
Ollan Omiping needs to inspire PNP teammates to give it all as they will be up against a formidable Judiciary squad led by Chester Tolomia, Don Camaso, Ariel Capus and Warren Ybanez.
