FULL-TIME MAYOR – When Richard Gomez ran – and won – for mayor of Ormoc, Leyte last year, one of his promises was to be a full-time public servant.
Goma was true to his word. It’s been over a year and Mayor Gomez has yet to do a movie or a television show.
He is a full-time mayor, hands-on, leading and inspiring his constituents in making the city more progressive, a better place to live in.
Of course, it helps that Mrs. Gomez (Congresswoman Lucy Torres) is of great help, at his side when Congress is not in session.
Goma was supposed to run for Congress, but political opponents succeeded in stopping him on the issue of residency.
Lucy took over and won by a landslide.

PLACE IN SHOWBIZ – Actually, even if Goma does not make a movie or even appear on TV, his place in showbiz is already assured. He is one of the country’s greatest actors. He has a string of best actor awards to his name, including three Urians.
Early in his career, he was billed “Brown Adonis”…even if he has American blood.
Much sought-after endorser. Remember his iconic Bench ad. Then, he met Lucy…his leading lady in a commercial.
One can’t write about Goma without mentioning his manager, the late Douglas Quijano, beloved showbiz figure. It’s safe to say that without Douglas’ guiding hand, Goma could not have been where he is today.
