CAMP BANCASI, Butuan City – Another heavily armed regular fighter of the New People’s Army returned to the mainstream society with the help of the 36th Infantry Battalion (36th IB) in Surigao del Sur Sunday night, a ground Army commander yesterday said.
Lt. Col. Randolph Rojas, 36th IB commander said the 23-year old Manobo, whose identity is withheld for security reason, chose to be with his family and live a normal life.
The 36th IB commander said the former rebel who came from San Miguel, Surigao del Sur, also surrendered his M16 Armalite 1 rifle with one fully-loaded magazine.
Col. Rojas welcomed former rebel and ensured to facilitate the benefits that are due to him. (Mike U. Crismundo)
