A group of at least 60 cause-oriented organizations called on the public to attend the historic 31st “People Power Revolution’’ celebration on Feb. 25 at EDSA/White Plains in Quezon City to increase awareness on the of value democracy that may lead to the road of peace and progress.
In a press conference in Quezon City, former Commission on Human Rights (CHR) chief Loretta Ann Rosales said freedom-loving Filipinos should join forces in calling for an investigation to all forms of human rights abuses and violence most specifically extra-judicial killings (EJK) which was done under the guise of the anti-illegal drug campaign of the Duterte administration.
At this year’s “Power of We’’ protest rally, the coalition of cause-oriented groups will call on the Duterte administration to stop the killings, respect the basic rights as mandated under the Constitution and to uphold the value of every individual’s life.
“We call on People Power to rise again. Whatever our differences, all Filipinos are united in desiring respect for human rights, justice, peace, prosperity and our prideful place in the world of nations. Let us fight for our rights, for historical truth and justice. Let us defend democracy as the only road to peace and progress,’’ the coalition said. (Chito Chavez)
