8 p.m. – Alab Pilipinas vs Malaysia
Alab Pilipinas takes on the Westports Malaysia Dragons in the first of a home-and-home series which starts tonight in the ASEAN Basketball League at the Baliwag Star Arena in Baliwag, Bulacan.
Tipoff is set at 8 p.m. with Alab hoping to be in solid form after a thrilling 64-62 overtime victory on the road against the Singapore Slingers last Sunday.
The Ray Parks Jr.-led and Mac Cuan-coached Alab team remains in third place in the six-team tournament at 7-4, trailing only the league-leading Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions (8-2) and the Slingers (10-4).
Following tonight’s match, both teams will head to Malaysia in time for their Sunday matinee at the House of Champions in Cyberjaya.
While Alab is favored to win on paper, with Malaysia struggling with its league-worst 2-9 record, Cuan and company know they can take any team for granted for the rest of the way.
They learned that the hard way nearly two weeks ago when Alab fell 72-65 to the Saigon Heat in Davao City.
