Los Angeles Lakers guard Lou Williams has performed well off the bench but his efforts have not been enough to push the team to success. With the NBA trade deadline barely a week away, the word out is that the 30-year-old may just be on the block.
The Lakers are near the cellar of the Western Conference standings with a 19-39 mark, something that could ease them out of the playoff hunt. If so, the Lakers could be moving some of their assets with Williams at the front of it all.
Probably. I know they're talking to a lot of teams. But I've guessed wrong about this before. https://t.co/fHT1ROw5xl

Lou Williams is reportedly being shopped and several opposing general managers have confirmed the report. For his part, Williams seems aware of a potential move but maintains that if it it happens, it happens. Until that time comes, he vows to compete for the Lakers, the LA Times reported.
One team that comes to mind is the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is no secret that the defending champions are looking for a backup guard to spell Kyrie Irving. After holding tryouts, a former Laker stood out in Jordan Farmar.
Additionally, the Cavs also had their sights on another Laker – Jose Calderon. Like the case of Farmar, nothing has been decided on.
With Williams available, the Cavs could just get the perfect backup to Irving. Williams is averaging 18.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists this season, a big addition for the Cavs or other teams wanting to ramp up their roster for the NBA postseason wars. The NBA trade deadline is on Feb. 23, 2017.
