Malacañang reiterated yesterday that President Duterte is in good condition following the lack of public appearances since Monday.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said Duterte has been in Davao City since Monday and was set to meet Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev yesterday.
Abella, in a press briefing in Malacañang, said it would only be natural if the President took a break during his three-day stay in Davao City.
“His schedules are really brutal so anybody would need to rest. I’m not saying he’s resting right now, but in the past few days he probably was,” he said.
According to Abella, Duterte is already scheduled to attend a number of meetings in the next few days.
Last week, Duterte was present in at least eight events, including his visit last Sunday to the victims of the magnitude-6.7 earthquake that hit Surigao del Norte Friday night.
Since Monday, Palace has cleared the President’s schedule and has been in Davao City since, including Valentine’s Day, which he spent with his family in a farm in Carmen.
On Monday, Health Secretary Paulyn Ubial said Duterte remains very healthy despite having migraine and Buerger’s Disease.
“The President is as healthy as a horse but he has problems with migraine, Buerger’s Disease. It’s bothersome but not critical,” Ubial said. (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
