Two stevedores were gunned down by two men in hooded black jackets Thursday night inside the Navotas Fish Port Complex (NFPC).
“Hindi kayo nag-remit,” said one of the gunmen before killing Jayson Rivera, 32, and Zoren Quesio, 20, both residents of Market 3, NFPC in Barangay North Bay Boulevard North, Navotas.
Riza Camille Peñapil, a live-in partner of Quesio, witnessed the shooting.
Peñapil told Navotas police chief Senior Supt. Dante Novicio that the victims were busy chatting in front of their shanty when the suspects appeared at 10:05 p.m. and opened fire.
Novicio said both victims were suspected drug personalities and may have been involved in a botched deal.
Retrieved from the crime scene were three spent shells of a still unidentified gun.
The police chief said that the NFPC is known as the “Drug Haven of the North” because of the prevalent drug activities there.
Illegal drugs, guns, grenades have been seized in past police operations inside the NFPC, according to Novicio.
Last year, some policemen were either killed or wounded in anti-drug operations. (JEL SANTOS)
