Malacañang said yesterday that social media personality Mocha Uson can resign as board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board anytime in response to her pronouncement that she is willing to quit her position due to the agency’s alleged failure to regulate TV shows.
Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said Uson can resign from her position anytime but expressed confidence that she will remain a staunch supporter of President Duterte.
“I’m not sure about the exactly the issues being involved. But if she feels that she needs to quit, then she is free to do so,” Abella said over Radyo ng Bayan.
“But as far as I know, she still said that she would be continually supporting the President in whatever capacity that she has,” he added.
Uson said on Friday she is investigating the complaints of some netizens regarding the racy scenes from the TV shows “The Better Half” and “Ipaglaban Mo” both aired over ABS-CBN.
In a Facebook post, Uson said this is not the first time that she has received complaints about the pilot episode of The Better Half and promised to bring it up to MTRCB Chairpeson Rachel Arenas.
She also said that the certain episode of “Ipaglaban Mo” aired on February 11 which featured a rape scene was not reviewed by the MTRCB.
“Para sa kasamahan ko sa MTRCB, let me remind you I am not answerable to anyone but to the Filipino people and to the President who appointed me,” she said. “Kung may nasasagasaan ako sa inyo pasensya na po paalala lang tayo ay public servant. Tayo ay alipin ng taumbayan.” (Argyll Cyrus B. Geducos)
